beach information
Pissouri Bay
Our favourite local beach is a short 10-15 min drive at Pissouri Bay - turn left out of the resort and keep going straight on the B6 road. You'll come into Pissouri Village - just keep going straight on the road (don't turn right to enter the village), go down the hill and turn right following the signs for Pissouri Bay). It's a blue flag beach, mostly sandy, and has plenty of bars and restaurants beside or close to the beach (we recommend Captain's Bay beside the beach - they serve takeaway drinks which you can take to your sunbed - or Il Buchetto, Pizza Venetto is great if you fancy an informal pizza). There's even an Indian restaurant (Saffron) which gets good reviews too. The beach is never too crowded, parking is free, and it has lots of watersports to keep everyone amused.
Aphrodite's Rock (Petra Tou Romiou) Beach
This is only a stone's throw from the resort - turn left out of the resort, and in about 300 m, you'll see the car park for the beach on the left. Take the steps beside the shop to go under the road and straight out onto the beach. If you walk beyond the rock itself, the other side is a little sandier - although there are still quite a few pebbles. Great for a swim or some boogie boarding! Well worth a stop, it's very pretty. But no real facilities, so nice for a quick swim or a walk.
Coral Bay
This is about a 40 minute drive from the resort on the western side of Paphos, but is one of the area's best loved beaches. It's a sandy beach and gets extremely busy in the peak tourist season. Nice for a day trip.
Kourion
About a 30 minute drive from the resort towards Limassol, this is a fairly sandy beach and is very shallow for quite some distance out, so is great for kids. It's in a beautiful setting and has a great beachside restaurant - Chris Blue Beach which is well worth a visit in its own right. (Note, Chris Blue Beach is the second restaurant as you drive along the beach road).
